SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines. Disclosed are systems and methods for improving fuel supply for an engine with a cylinder receiving fuel from a direct injection fuel injector. In one example, the transfer function or characteristic of the direct injection fuel injector is adjusted in response to the exhaust gas lambda value and the first pulse width of two pulse widths supplied to the cylinder injector during the cylinder cycle.
EFFECT: invention enables to reduce the error in the air-fuel ratio in the engine, reduce engine toxicity and increase efficiency of the catalytic neutraliser.
