SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel control systems for internal combustion engines (ICE). Disclosed are systems and methods for improving fuel supply for an engine with a cylinder receiving fuel from a fuel injector of direct injection. In one example, the transfer function or the transfer characteristic of the fuel injector of direct injection is adjusted in accordance with the value of the exhaust lambda and pulse width of the plurality of separate fuel injections supplied to the cylinder injector during the cylinder cycle.
EFFECT: invention allows improving fuel-air mixture formation in engine, enlarging operating range of fuel injector and reducing engine toxicity.
