FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to heat transfer in a polymerisation reactor system. Described is a method which involves contacting an olefin with a catalyst in a polymerisation reactor. At least a portion of the olefin is polymerised to form an alpha-olefin reaction product, followed by detecting conditions in the polymerisation reactor, determining the average temperature of at least one olefin product particle based on the condition, determining the operating temperature of the particles using the fouling curve, comparing the average temperature of the polymer particle with the threshold of the working temperature of the particles, changing one or more operating parameters in response to the comparison and maintaining the average temperature of at least one olefin polymer particle not higher than the threshold of the working temperature of the particles in response to variation of one or more operating parameters. Alpha-olefin reaction product contains a plurality of olefin polymer particles, and the polymerisation reactor contains a reaction mixture which contains an olefin, a catalyst, a diluent and an alpha-olefin reaction product.

EFFECT: systems and methods are useful for selecting operating conditions of polymerisation in a polymerisation reactor, which enables to control temperature of the polymerisation process.
