METHOD FOR DETERMINING A DEGREE OF UTERINE PERFORATION RISK IN INTRACAVITARY GAMMA THERAPY Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B8/00 A61N5/10

Abstract RU 2710219 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to medical radiotherapy. After the gynecological examination and transvaginal ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs, the risk factors of the iatrogenic uterine injury are identified. Main risk factors are flexion angle and thickness of uterine wall. Additional risk factors: smoothed uterine cervix, uterine cavity deformation, intrauterine uterine atresia. Results of which determine a degree of uterine perforation risk. In case of simultaneous combination of hyperflexion and thin wall, high risk of uterine perforation is diagnosed regardless of presence or absence of additional risk factors. If normal flexion is combined with normal wall thickness in the absence of additional risk factors, a low risk of uterine perforation is diagnosed. If combined normal flexion, normal wall thickness and additional risk factor diagnosed moderate risk of uterine perforation. In case of combination of hyperflexion and normal thickness of uterine wall or normal flexion and thin wall of uterus in the absence of additional risk factors, moderate risk of uterine perforation is considered, and if present - high risk of uterine perforation.

EFFECT: method enables high-accuracy determination of flexion angle and uterine wall thickness, which together with additional parameters enables to determine a degree of uterine perforation risk, individually select and establish a central endostat with a minimum risk of iatrogenic injuries; method provides more effective implementation of intracavage gamma-therapy plans.
