FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for recognizing intruder type. Method consists in installation of one detection device (DD) at road at distance of not less than 40 % of maximum length of detection area (DA) so, that its width in point of intersection with road is not less than 1 meter; aligning the DD such that its two-beam DA axis crosses the road section at angle of 90 degrees; transition of DD into alarm mode when intruder crosses its two-beam DA; recording DD of useful signal during its entire time in alarm mode; use in DD algorithm for determining type of intruder based on a useful signal form: a first pulse of a useful signal generated when crossing intruder DA, has one local maximum or minimum – pedestrian intruder, first pulse of useful signal formed at crossing by intruder DA, has two local maxima or minima – intruder on wheeled vehicle; transmitting DD information on intruder type – pedestrian intruder or intruder on vehicle to DCPS; enabling registration of DCPS alarm signal and information on intruder type from DD.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of error probability during recognition.
