FIELD: test technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of materials science and fracture mechanics, where for metals and their alloys, a combining principle of comparison of operational characteristics in the process of deformation up to destruction at a given rate of deformations and test temperature is formulated. Essence: performing flat and round specimen axial expansion until destruction. Identification of metals and alloys is carried out when comparing a set of seven physical and mechanical parameters: ultimate strength, yield point, elongation, dynamic viscosity coefficient, specific energy of destruction at a given rate of deformation and temperature obtained during mechanical tests.

EFFECT: possibility to unify existing variety of standard technical documentation (GOST, ASTM, DIN) for impact viscosity and crack resistance into single standard, without limitation on wall thickness of test specimen.
