FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly neurosurgery, and can be used in neurosurgical treatment of patients with complex skull defects combined with cicatricial changes of scalp, in which cranioplasty by completely open method is impossible. To implement the method, the titanium plate is cut and fixed with screws. Titanium plate used is an implant made of titanium in the form of a spherical mesh. Incision is made as to the size of the implant. That is followed by introducing an implant through this incision, puncturing the skin above the implant and inserting fixing screws through the punctures.
EFFECT: method enables performing cranioplasty with minimal traumatization of the skin flap, a minimal risk of intraoperative complications in the form of hemorrhage, as well as reduces the risk of such postoperative complications, such as skin flap necrosis, inconsistency of sutures, fistula formation, suppuration of the postoperative wound, reduced length of wound healing and patient's hospitalization.
