FIELD: beverage preparation devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machines for beverages preparation. More specifically, it relates to an improved espresso machine (or other beverage), as well as to a method of dispensing espresso. Espresso coffee preparation and dispensing machine comprises cold water supply means (1); distribution group (19) and corresponding coffee boiler (18); coffee pump (7) for receiving heated water and pumping heated water towards coffee boiler (18); flow meter (9) located between coffee pump (7) and coffee boiler (18), to measure instantaneous water flow rate, that is water volume, which passes from coffee pump to coffee boiler per unit time; storage device for storage of at least one pressure profile, wherein coffee pump (7) is configured to operate according to said pressure profile during coffee dispensing; and control unit (15) configured to stop coffee dispensing based on the water flow measurement calculated from the dispensing start time.
EFFECT: control unit (15) is arranged to stop dispensing of espresso coffee after the end of said pressure profile, if a predetermined amount of coffee was not dispensed to a predetermined dispensing time corresponding to the end of said pressure profile, and thereby prolonging the stored pressure profile for dispensing, unless a predetermined amount of coffee is reached, wherein the stored pressure profile is prolonged by maintaining the pressure value such as the last value recorded at the end of the pressure profile.
