SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery and orthopedics and can be used in surgical treatment of patients with deformities and instability in the craniovertebral zone. Articular parts of the arches and the lateral surface of the base of articular processes of the C2 vertebra to the opening of the vertebral artery are bilaterally skeletonized. Through the opening of the vertebral artery, a bulbous probe is used to determine the position of the upper medial wall of the vertebral artery canal in the C2 vertebra taken as an anatomical landmark when forming a bone canal for a fixing screw in the interarticular portion of the C2 vertebra.
