FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a light-emitting diode device and a method of driving light-emitting diodes, in particular, in which a linear driver architecture with taps is used. Result is achieved by the fact that the LED device uses a driver with taps operating due to the rectified voltage of the electric mains, and is placed above the light output surface. On the light output surface there are at least first and second groups of light-emitting diodes. Total density of light flux for light-emitting diodes of the second group (which are switched on for shorter time than the cycle of the electric mains) per unit area of light output surface is more than total density of light flux for light-emitting diodes of the first group per unit surface area of light output. Light-emitting surface of second group (16) of light-emitting diodes (LED) in the second area of the light output surface occupied on a large scale by second group (16) of light-emitting diodes is larger than the fraction of the light-emitting surface of first group (14) of light-emitting diodes in the first region of the light output surface occupied on a large-scale form by first group (14) of light-emitting diodes. This means that light flux density during averaging over time becomes more consistent between two (or more) groups of light-emitting diodes.
EFFECT: technical result is providing a lighting structure which uses a linear driver with taps and also has homogeneous/uniform luminous flux among different groups in the taps over the entire surface of the output of light, such as the whole lamp.
