FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to thermal hardening of high carbon alloys by using arc discharge plasma between part and tungsten electrode and can be used in production of working tools for soil development. To obtain a stable depth of ledeburite layer equal to 0.9–1.1 mm, increasing wear resistance of working tools of tillage tools made of high-strength cast iron VCh50, hardening of the cutting part of the working member is performed using arc reverse polarity plasma between the electrode and the hardened surface, the electrode used is a tungsten electrode, which performs axial longitudinal oscillations with frequency of 4–8 Hz and moves along hardened surface at rate of 0.4–1.5 cm/s, wherein time of each contact of tungsten electrode with hardened surface is 0.06–0.07 s.
EFFECT: increased wear resistance of tillage working tools.
