FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of thermal hardening of high-carbon alloys and can be used for production of working tools of tools for soil development. To increase wear resistance of cutting parts of working members and to obtain ledeburite layer with depth of 1.4–1.5 mm, hardening of cutting part of working members from high-strength cast iron VCh50 is carried out using plasma of arc discharge of reverse polarity between tungsten electrode and hardened surface, note here that axial longitudinal oscillations of electrode with frequency of 4–8 Hz are performed and moved along hardened surface at rate of 0.3–1.0 cm/s, and time of each contact of tungsten electrode with hardened surface makes 0.1 s.
EFFECT: method is proposed for hardening of high-carbon alloys.
