FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of hardening cutting part of working tools for development of soils. Arc of reverse polarity arc between the electrode and the hardened surface is used to move the electrode along the hardened surface. Hardening is performed by pulsating arc. Cutting part of working elements made of high-strength cast iron VCh 60 containing, wt%: C 3.5, Si 2.8, Mn 0.5, Ni 0.4, S 0.015, P 0.05, Cr 0.15, Cu 0.3, Fe is rest. Electrode used is a tungsten electrode which performs axial longitudinal oscillations at frequency of 3–5 Hz. It is moved along hardened surface at rate of 0.4–1.5 cm/s, and time of each contact of tungsten electrode with hardened surface is 0.1–0.13 s.
EFFECT: obtaining preset stable depth of ledeburite layer with depth of 1_5–1_7 mm, high wear resistance of working tool blades of tillage tools made of high-strength cast iron VCh 60.
