FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of thermal hardening of high-carbon alloys using arc discharge plasma between the part and tungsten electrode and can be used in production of tools working tools for soil development. Method of reinforcing cutting part of working members includes using arc discharge plasma of reverse polarity between electrode and hardened surface with movement of electrode along hard surface by pulsating arc. Cutter part of working elements is strengthened and made of high-strength cast iron HI 60 of the following composition, %: C - 3.3, Si - 2.6, Mn - 0.5, Ni - 0.3, S - 0.015, P - 0.05, Cr - 0.1, Cu - 0.2, Fe is the rest. Electrode used is a tungsten electrode which is moved along the hardened surface at rate of 0.4–1.5 cm/s with axial longitudinal oscillations at frequency of 3–5 Hz. Time of each contact of tungsten electrode with hardened surface makes 0.06–0.07 s.
EFFECT: obtaining preset stable depth of ledeburite layer with depth of 0_9–1_1 mm, higher wear resistance of working tools of tillage tools made of high-strength cast iron HI 60.
