FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to method of surface modification, namely to electron-beam processing and application of thin films, and can be used in aviation, machine building and other industries, as well as in medicine. Method of modification of surface treatment of articles from titanium consists in that surfaces of articles are melted with concentrated flows of energy followed by plasma-chemical deposition of a silicon-carbon film in a mixture of argon and polyphenylmethyl siloxane vapor using pulse bipolar displacement with a negative pulse amplitude of 100 V to 700 V applied to the tooling with articles. Pre-melting of surface is performed by pulsed wide-aperture electronic beam. Starting material for producing the silicon-carbon film is polyphenylmethylsiloxane.
EFFECT: improved mechanical and tribological properties of articles made from titanium, having biocompatibility and combining high hardness, low friction coefficient and low wear rate.
