FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. An ophthalmic assessment of the ratio of the length of the valve rupture to its width is determined. Length is defined in meridian corresponding to direction of rupture, from base of valve rupture to its opposite edge, and width – in widest part of mutually perpendicular meridian. If the ratio of length to width is more than 2/1, the YAG laser is excised ¼ from the "tab" of the valve rupture. If the length-to-width ratio is 2/1–3/2 inclusive, the YAG-laser is excised ¾ from the "tab" of the valve rupture. If the length-to-width ratio is 3/2–1/1 inclusive, the whole "tab" of the valve rupture is excised by the YAG-laser. If the length-to-width ratio is less than 1/1, the YAG laser is used to excise the entire "tab" and the same area in the distal direction from its base; with the following parameters of the YAG laser: wavelength 1,064 nm, pulse duration 4 ns, spot diameter in focus 8 mcm, pulse energy 4–7.5 mJ.
EFFECT: method enables detecting patterns of compliance of the form of valve rupture with vitreoretinal adhesion, which can be used to determine the required volume of retinotomy in the course of the laser surgical intervention in order to eliminate the traction component.
