SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vehicle braking retarder system operation method. Invention also relates to the vehicle and vehicle braking retarder system control or adjustment device. Brake retarder system includes primary brake-decelerator and secondary brake-decelerator, wherein the primary decelerator decelerator has a first primary brake retarder device to create an adjustable first braking moment component and second brake retarder primary device to create braking torque second component, wherein the first in comparison with the second primary device of the retarder brake has faster actuation behavior. By means of secondary brake-retarder, for example in the form of secondary retarder, third component of braking moment can be installed. According to this method of operation in the period of time after braking mode activation by retarder and until, when deceleration braking deceleration request for braking decelerator is first time exceeds first threshold value (P1max), brake deceleration request is provided by first decelerator brake primary device. First threshold value (P1max) is set so that it corresponds to a value which is less than or equal to maximum braking torque, which can be created by first primary brake retarder device. In addition, after braking request by decelerating brake for the first time exceeds first threshold value (P1max) and while this braking deceleration braking request has not yet exceeded the second threshold value after deceleration braking mode activation, exceeding the first threshold value (P1max), the braking retardation component is provided by the secondary decelerator brake. Second threshold value (S) is set so that it corresponds to a value which is less than or equal to braking torque, which maximum can be created at interaction of the first primary device of brake-decelerator with secondary brake-retarder.
EFFECT: higher reaction time of retarder brake system and reduced heat release by retarder brake system.
