SUBSTANCE: disclosed are methods and systems for providing information to a driver of a vehicle, which enables the driver to make an informed decision regarding selection of a higher octane or lower octane fuel for vehicle operation. In one example, a driver is provided with fuel cost per unit of distance traveled, based on vehicle operation on higher octane fuel or lower octane fuel.
EFFECT: methods and systems for fuel selection are proposed.
