FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses methods and systems for integrating technology of water injection with infinitely variable transmission (VT). In response to the driver request, the controller can determine whether to maintain the current state of water injection or change over to the other water injection state, depending on each of the following conditions, namely efficiency of such transition, availability of water and any limitations of the engine, which can occur at new engine rotation speed and engine load after this transition.
EFFECT: to increase overall improvement of fuel efficiency with simultaneous overcoming of engine limitations, transition between water injection states can be combined with correction of engine rotation speed and engine load by means of VT while maintaining engine output power.
