SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fodder compositions for dogs. Method of preparing a fodder composition for and a dog fodder composition includes referring a small dog to a sturdy body type or an athletic body type, wherein this assignment is at least partially based on the corrected body weight index of the small dog. Corrected body weight index is defined as body weight / [(height - height from sternum to floor) x body length]. Then a fodder composition for a small dog is prepared, which contains fodder ingredients, including proteins and fats, and their amount based on referring a small dog to a strong body type or to an athletic body type. Invention relates to a method for providing nutrition for a small dog, having growth, sternum and body length, according to which growth, height from sternum to sex and body length of a small dog in standing on the floor are measured. A corrected body weight index of a small dog is determined, wherein the corrected body weight index is defined as the body weight / [(height—height from sternum to the floor) x body length]. A small dog is referred to a sturdy body type or to an athletic body type using a corrected body weight index. One of the plurality of fodder compositions is selected based on reference to a strong body type or to an athletic body type. Each of the plurality of corresponding fodder compositions corresponds to a strong body type or an athletic body type.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to improve classification of small breeds of dogs, when calculating BMI of a small dog to take into account length of legs, to improve calculation of BMI for small animals of canine family, improved control of healthy weight of small dogs, obtaining a fodder composition which are better adapted for a small dog.
