SUBSTANCE: invention represents a method for forming a cluster of cells, involving: (i) combining a population of heterogeneous kidney cells and a population of bioactive cells, where the heterogeneous renal cell population comprises cells derived from a kidney biopsy material or a whole kidney of a mammal or derived from a cell culture in vitro, obtained from a kidney biopsy material or a whole kidney of a mammal, and wherein the population of biologically active cells (a) comprises a population of non-kidney derived endothelial cells, or a population of non-kidney endothelial progenitor cells, and (b) recovered from a source originating from an adult, or from a cell line derived from an adult, and (ii) culturing a population of heterogeneous renal cells and a population of bioactive cells in a three-dimensional culture system comprising rotating flasks until forming a cluster of cells, where the population of heterogeneous kidney cells and the population of bioactive cells are cultivated independently during the first period of time, and then combined and cultivated in a three-dimensional culture system for a second period of time, where the second period of time is not less than 24 hours.
