FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to pharmacology, and can be used to determine triterpene saponins of the β-amirin group in plant raw material and drug preparations based thereon. For this purpose, according to UV spectra of water solutions of saponins, optical density of saponin-containing fraction is determined. Content of saponins is calculated from a pre-plotted calibration curve. Concentration of triterpene saponins of the β-amyrin group is calculated by differential spectrophotometry at wavelength with maximum absorption λ = 193.5 nm in concentration range 0.002–1 mg/ml or λ = 280.5 nm in concentration range 0.5–8 mg/ml. Saponin concentrations ranging from 0.5 to 1 mg/ml are measured at 193.5 nm or 280.5 nm.
EFFECT: invention enables to determine the amount of triterpene saponins of the β-amirin group in extracts from plant material, medicinal preparations.
