FIELD: pharmaceutical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the to method for quantitative determination of the amount of phenylpropanoids in the rhizomes and roots of Eleutherococcus senticosus. The method consists in the preliminary extraction of an aqueous-alcoholic extract from the rhizomes and roots of Eleutherococcus senticosus by a single extraction with 40% ethanol in the ratio of raw material-extractant of 1:50 for 60 min, further purification by filtration through a layer of aluminum oxide and quantitative determination by measurement of optical density at an analytical wavelength of 266 nm, followed by calculation of the content from the sum of phenylpropanoids in terms of eleutheroside B (syringin) and absolutely dry raw materials in percent X is calculated by the formula:

where D is the optical density of the test solution; Do is the optical density of a solution of a standard sample of eleutheroside B (syringin); m is the mass of raw materials, g; mo is the mass of the standard sample of eleutheroside B (syringin), g; W is the weight loss upon drying, %; in the absence of a standard sample of eleutheroside B (syringin), it is advisable to use the rated value of the specific absorption index E1%1cm of a standard sample at 266 nm, equal to 430:

where D is the optical density of the test solution; m is the mass of raw materials, g; W is the weight loss upon drying, %.

EFFECT: increasing the yield of biologically active phenylpropanoids - eleutherosides B and D, increasing the specificity and reducing the duration of the method for quantitative determination of the amount of phenylpropanoids in terms of eleutheroside B (syringin) in the rhizomes and roots of Eleutherococcus senticosus.
