FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the terahertz (THz) range optics and can be used for polarization and amplitude modulation of THz radiation without using mobile optical devices placed on the beam path. Essence of the invention is that the polariser, comprising a transparent medium with a volumetric diffraction grating formed in it from the conductive material, slots of which are oriented perpendicular to radiation propagation direction, additionally comprises sealed container, is equipped with inlet and outlet windows oriented perpendicular to radiation beam, as well as an ultrasound source emitting a light beam crossing wave and a flat reflector which reflects sound in the reverse direction, wherein the grid forming medium is a liquid filling container containing carbon nanotubes suspended therein.
EFFECT: invention enables to control the degree of polarization of the controlled radiation without mechanical movement of the device or elements which form it.
