FIELD: authentication of documents.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a technique for recognizing the authenticity of personal identity documents (PID), which contain protective labels, and can be used to identify legal and false identification documents. Identity document scanner includes a protective housing with a scanning device which contains a control module, ultraviolet and infrared light sources, a narrow-band ultraviolet filter, an optical receiving chamber, glass and a working chamber. Additionally, the scanner of the identity document includes a front source of white light, a rear local source of white light, a rear common source of white light, a light diffuser.

EFFECT: technical result of claimed invention is high accuracy of authenticating identity document, due to high quality of obtained image of PID, possibility of checking the authenticity of the entire area of sheets of a PID sheet in several wavelength ranges, not only reflected, but also in the light passing through the PID, including identification of photo pamphlet of the document holder in a PID form.
