FIELD: biotechnology; physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to bioindication of background UV-B and can be used in ecology, public health, when assessing optical properties of atmosphere and condition of ozone layer of the Earth. Method for bioindication of background UV-B involves sampling plants and measuring intensity of UV-B using recording instruments, followed by analysis of correlation values, wherein the plants are SPHAGNUM mosses, as a recording instrument, a spectroradiometer which is integrated into the solar radiation observation satellite, monitoring the daily growth of moss and the daily UV-B intensity at the individual wavelengths, the correlation values being obtained between the obtained data, and the spectral composition of the background UV-B is determined by detecting a reliable negative correlation between the values of the daily growth of moss shoots and solar UV-B at separate wavelengths.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of detecting spectral composition of background UV-B and reducing time and labor costs.
