FIELD: pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to pharmaceutical field, namely to compositions for embolization of blood vessels. Composition comprises cellulose acetate with a molecular weight of 20–100 kDa as a water-insoluble cellulose derivative, PEG-2000, PEG-4000 or PEG-6000 as a cellulose acetate modifier, lipiodol or etiodol as an iodine-containing contrast agent, dimethylsulphoxide, a mixture of dimethyl sulphoxide and ethanol in volume ratio of 4:1 or a mixture of benzyl alcohol and ethyl acetate in volume ratio of 4:1 as a solvent, characterized by the following ratio of components (wt%): water-insoluble cellulose derivative 3.07–10.70; polyethylene glycol 0.09–1.58; iodine-containing contrast agent 0.02–2.43; solvent up to 100.
EFFECT: invention provides higher resistance of the embolizing composition to lamination during storage, as well as improved mechanical properties of the ready embolus.
