SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to medicine, namely to a method for selecting the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease "with rare exacerbations" for treating roflumilast, including prior to initiation of therapy with roflumilast assessment of quality of life of the patient according to CAT test and blood sampling for blood serum level of biomarkers of systemic inflammation – tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-8, and then solving the discriminant equation: D=0.56×(CAT)+0.58×(TNF-α)+0.14×(IL-8)-14.3, where CAT – COPD Assessment Test – in scores, TNF-α – tumor necrosis factor-alpha in pg/l, IL-8 – interleukin-8 in pg/l, wherein the value D is less than 2.39 makes the conclusion on the advisability of the additional administration of roflumilast for 12 months to the preparations of the basic therapy, and if D is more than and equal to 2.39, it is concluded that the additional administration of roflumilast is inadvisable for 12 months to preparations of basic therapy.

EFFECT: present invention improves the accuracy of selection of the patients suffering the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease "with rare exacerbations" for additional administration of roflumilast to the preparations of the basic therapy.
