FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric networks and can be used in transverse compensation devices in order to reduce losses of electric energy, control voltage in places of installation of these devices in power transmission line (PTL), as well as control of power transmitted over power transmission line. Method of controlling power of a static power compensator operating in a sinusoidal alternating voltage network and comprising series connection of a reactive element and a control device, includes setting of static power generated by static compensator, measurement of voltage at input terminals of static power compensator, calculation corresponding to specified generated power, voltage values of the control device, which are synchronous with voltage of the network of action on the control device, providing formation of the calculated value of its voltage. Voltage of the control device is generated with a phase shift relative to the mains voltage, for example, by summation of instantaneous values of two adjustable sinusoidal voltages shifted relative to each other by 90 electric degrees.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities of the static power compensator, which enables to adjust both the reactive and active power of the static compensator and, accordingly, the transmission line at the point where the static power compensator is connected to it.
