FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric networks and can be used in transverse compensation devices in order to reduce losses of electric energy, control voltage in places of installation of these devices in power transmission line, as well as control of power transmitted via transmission line. Method of controlling power of a static power compensator operating in a sinusoidal alternating voltage network and comprising a serial connection of a controlled reactance and a controlled voltage source, includes setting of static power generated by static compensator, measurement of voltage at input terminals of static power compensator, calculation of corresponding values of generated power voltage values of controlled voltage source and controlled reactance, synchronous with voltage of network of action on controlled voltage source and on controlled reactive resistance, providing formation of specified calculated values of voltage and resistance. Voltage of controlled voltage source is generated with phase shift relative to mains voltage, for example, by summation of instantaneous values of two time-shifted adjustable sinusoidal voltages.

EFFECT: technical result of disclosed invention is expansion of functional capabilities of static power compensator, allowing to adjust with reduced interval of discreteness both reactive and active power of static compensator and power transmission line at point of connection to it of static power compensator.
