SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to electrical traction systems of vehicles. Electric system of rail vehicle (2) comprises first current converter (3a), at least one other current converter (3b) and at least one transformer (4). Intermediate loop section of first current converter (3a) is made with possibility of electric connection with section of intermediate circuit of at least one other current converter (3b) through electric connection (8a, 8b) of intermediate circuits. Besides, part of electric connection (8a, 8b) of intermediate circuits is directed through transformer housing (5). Also disclosed is rail vehicle (2), which has electric system (1). Also disclosed is a method of operating electric system (1), which consists in the fact that electric connection (8a, 8b) of intermediate circuits is installed or broken.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of functionality of rail vehicle with minimum need for it in mounting space.
