SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing aluminum oxide gel. Resulting aluminum oxide gel can then be formed into balls and used as a catalyst support in oligomerization or catalytic reforming processes, as well as an adsorbent. Gel of aluminum oxide is obtained by a single deposition step, wherein said deposition step consists in dissolving acidic aluminum precursor, aluminum chloride, in water at temperature of 10 to 90 °C, that the pH of the solution ranges from 0.5 to 5 for period of 2 to 60 minutes, then adjusting the pH to a pH value in range of 7.5 to 9.5 by adding an alkaline precursor to the obtained solution, sodium hydroxide to obtain a suspension at temperature from 5 to 35 °C for period of 5 minutes to 5 hours, followed by a filtration step, wherein said method does not include washing steps.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an aluminum oxide gel having an increased dispersibility index of more than 80 %, reduced crystallite size from 0_5 to 15 nm with chlorine content from 0_001 to 2 wt % and sodium content from 0_001 to 2 wt %, wherein weight content is expressed per total weight of aluminum oxide gel.
