SUBSTANCE: invention relates to maintenance. In the method of operating the technical system, setting the permissible value of the failure rate of the system and the periodicity of its maintenance according to the standard operating time, value of failure rate of the system and its components is fixed before maintenance, the value of fixed intensity of failures of the system is compared to the allowable one and the system is serviced against the allowable intensity of failure of the system to the fixed one. If the allowable intensity of the system failures exceeds the fixed failure rate, the value of the actual failure rate of the component part is compared with the allowable value. In case, when it is higher than allowable, replacement or repair of component is performed, after which system run-up to next service is assigned normative.
