FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electric engineering for preventive control of generator unit (GU) disconnection. In the method of precautionary control of disconnection (stopping) of the generator unit when a command is received to disconnect the GU, the operating mode of the ship electric power system (SEPS) is analyzed, and if the SEPS operates in a mode in which disconnection of the disconnected GU results in an emergency situation caused by loading of at least one of the GU remaining in operation, then a control action is created to prevent said emergency situation.

EFFECT: higher safety of GU disconnection due to elimination of errors allowed by crew.
