FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing methyl ethyl ketone, which is used as a solvent for various paint materials and adhesives, for dewaxing lube oils and parboiling, as well as raw material for methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, by oxidising butane-butylene mixture with nitrous oxide. Method consists in that selected fraction of methyl ethyl ketone with boiling point in range of 65–90 °C, obtained as a result of fractionation of butane-butylene mixture oxidised with nitrous oxide, is subjected to oxidation with air oxygen with volumetric rate of its supply of at least 2 ml per minute per gram of oxide fraction at temperature of 40–80 °C with subsequent extraction of methyl ethyl ketone by fractionation of methyl ethyl ketone fraction oxidised with air oxygen.
EFFECT: disclosed method enables to obtain methyl ethyl ketone with content of basic substance of not less than 95 %.
