FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to maintenance of vehicles, in particular to methods for determining environmental safety of use of devices during maintenance of vehicles in field conditions. During maintenance of the machine, fuel and lubricants are fixed on the screen when using the tested and standard instruments. Obtained data are used to calculate average weight of materials on the screen when each type of service is performed with said instruments. Thereafter, the environmental safety factor of the device is calculated, and the average weight of materials on the screen is taken into account when performing the maintenance, the first and second periodic servicing with said instruments, as well as the periodicity of said services. Reference one accepts any similar device or such device, when using which the lowest environmental hazard is possible as per ecological index "ingress of fuel-and-lubricant materials into soil".

EFFECT: higher safety of operations during maintenance of vehicles.
