SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the maintenance of motor vehicles, in particular to methods for determining the environmental safety of maintenance of cars, tractors, combines and other self-propelled machines. When determining the environmental safety of vehicle maintenance by the specific total mass of fuel and lubricants (FL) entering the soil, FL is recorded on the screen by types of maintenance of an individual brand of vehicle in the field and for each type of service, the average volume of these materials is found on the screen placed under the vehicle under service. When calculating the specific total mass of FL, the frequency of daily vehicle maintenance, vehicle maintenance-1 and vehicle maintenance-2 of vehicles is taken into account. According to the calculated value of the specific total mass of fuel and lubricants entering the soil, the environmental safety of maintenance of vehicles of brand i is determined.

EFFECT: improvement in the choice of vehicles is achieved, taking into account the environmental safety of their maintenance in the field.
