SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of prototyping 3D articles based on the principle of prototyping using 3D printer, and can be most effectively used in industrial design in making models and three-dimensional objects for decorative-applied and educational purposes. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that the method of prototyping large-size objects larger than the dimensions of the working area of 3D printer is created, which includes dissecting the virtual model of the modeled object into constituent segments into the size of the working area of 3D printer, which are printed on 3D printer and then assembled into a large-sized mock-up model, characterized in that stitching ribs are introduced into the virtual model of constituent segments, note here that fixing elements are formed along alignment line of appropriate component segments to make mock-up with their inner side filled with mounting foam after printing component segments on 3D printer.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is simple and fast assembly of large-size three-dimensional model using sectioned printing of its components on 3D printer and improved strength characteristics of the model.
