FIELD: processing of plastics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing block articles containing polytetrafluoroethylene, and can be used for production of antifriction and sealing parts in aircraft, ship-, automobile-, machine-, bridge-building and other industries. Method includes formation of billets of block article by pressing of powder containing polytetrafluoroethylene, arrangement of non-sintered workpieces in heat chamber, filling the thermal chamber with inert gas to atmospheric pressure and irradiating workpieces with 60Co gamma radiation at temperature of 335 °C up to absorbed dose of 200 kGy.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the method of producing block articles by excluding the stage of compacted workpieces sintering and direct transition from the fibrillar structure of the powder particles to the radiation-modified structure and obtaining block products having substantially higher modulus of elasticity, wear resistance, stress at 10 % deformation and Brinell hardness.
