SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing biochar during thermal processing of biomass. Disclosed is a method for producing a biochar based on thermal treatment of granular biomass in combustion products of a gas piston power unit, according to the invention, if during processing of biomass the temperature in the zone of obtaining bio-coal does not provide the required level of temperatures, then according to the signal of the temperature sensor in the reaction zone, the programmer controlling the excess air ratio of the combustible fuel mixture in the gas piston power unit increases the content of oxygen in the combustion products to the level, required to achieve required temperatures during biochar production, which enables to carry out the process at the required temperature level with minimum energy costs and to obtain a biochar with the specified properties, as well as a biochar obtaining device.
EFFECT: technical result is providing the required temperature level of the pyrolysis process to obtain a biochar from different types of biomass by controlling the temperature of the process.
