FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: surgical instrument comprises a body having a trigger mechanism configured to be manipulated by an operator; a shaft assembly extending from the body in a distal direction; and end effector, functionally connected to trigger by means of barrel assembly. End effector is configured to accommodate cartridge selectively actuated by selective manipulation of trigger mechanism. Distal end portion of the end effector comprises a first end; second end opposite to first end in lateral direction; distal comb arranged between first and second ends in lateral direction. Distal crest extends beyond the first and second ends in the distal direction. Arched distal surface extends along the distal crest and in a lateral direction between the first and second ends. Arched distal surface on the distal crest has a radius of curvature that can be placed close to the pelvic cup of the patient, for placement of end effector relative to colon tissue of patient for purpose of manipulating tissue of colon by means of cartridge. Radius of curvature of arc-shaped distal surface extends from first end to second end in lateral direction. First end has shape of first half-cupola extending to distal arc-like surface, and second end has the shape of second half-cupola extending to distal arc-like surface. What is disclosed is a method for surgical manipulation of patient's colon tissue.

EFFECT: technical result is facilitating stapling of patient's tissues.
