SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly obstetrics and gynecology, ultrasonic diagnostics, and can be used for assessing fetal health in pregnancy. That is ensured by performing a Doppler ultrasound to measure a pulsation index in a middle cerebral artery of the fetus. If the threshold value of index is 0.835 and lower, decompensated fetal conditions are diagnosed and the Cesarean section is prescribed or natural delivery is prescribed.

EFFECT: invention provides the possibility of assessing the fetus's state on the gestation period of 40 weeks, enables detecting signs of fetal decompensation prior to the onset of labor and preventing intrauterine fetal death.
