FIELD: defectoscopy.

SUBSTANCE: use for magnetic flaw detection of rails foot. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that on the flaw detection device the device creating the magnetic field in the rail is installed, moving the flaw detection device and fixing the magnetic field changes on the rail surface using the magnetically sensitive sensor sliding on the rail surface, wherein foot feathers are magnetized by identical magnetisation systems symmetrically on both sides of rail to a condition close to saturation, and moving the systems along the rail synchronously by sensors placed in interpolar spaces on the surfaces of the sole feathers, fixing the magnetic field deviations, these deviations are compared on the right and on the left side of the rail and the results of comparison are used to decide on the presence and location of the defect in the rail foot. Magnetisation is performed by dipole magnets with provision of constant and minimum possible gap between poles and surfaces of sole feathers during system movement along rail, and magnetic field deviation is recorded by magnetically sensitive transducers located on the foot feathers symmetrically to the central longitudinal plane of the rail.

EFFECT: possibility of reliable and reliable detection of dangerous defects in the rail foot.
