FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthodontics, and is intended for use in determining the position of lower jaw in patients with distal ratio of dentition before orthodontic treatment or prosthesis. Patient's upper and lower jaw models, as well as TMJ computed tomograms and lateral teleradiography are obtained. Upper jaw model is plunged into an individually adjustable articulator using a face arch, and the lower jaw model is plunged in a maximum contact position of the dentitions. Then the dentitions are separated in accordance with the Shimbashi index. Next step is the tray modeling, which can be performed on both the upper and lower jaws. Working element of said tray is inclined plane, which is modeled for front teeth in accordance with detected angle of sagittal articular path. Angle of the sagittal articular path is determined by a teleradiography and a computerized tomogram of TMJ by superimposing them, by drawing a line connecting the upper point of the articular cavity with the lower point of the articular tubercle to its intersection with the occlusal plane. After wax modeling of tray it is converted to plastic by traditional method.

EFFECT: method enables determining a central position of the lower jaw used for further treatment, which, in turn, improves the quality of treating the dental patients.
