FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to apparatus and method for cleaning rolled metal strips with surface oxide layer. Plant comprises means (1) for unreeling at least one roll of rolled strip, means (5) for etching a rolled strip and measuring means (4, 4') to measure thickness of surface oxide layer, located between said unwinding means (1) and etching facilities (5). Measuring devices (4, 4') comprise at least one laser source interacting with the fibre-optic spectrometer, which form excitation spectroscopy system by laser breakdown, made with possibility to analyse composition of oxide and concentration of its components. Fibre-optic spectrometer is configured to measure the presence of oxygen, while the laser radiation of said laser source penetrates into the rolled strip to a non-oxidising base material.
EFFECT: technical result is the possibility of detecting the necessary information on the cleaned surface of the rolling strip to control the working parameters of the strip etching to increase the accuracy, efficiency, environmental friendliness and safety of the plant operation when cleaning rolled metal strips with a surface oxide layer.
