FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, and can be used for predicting the risk of tract damage of white matter of the brain when removing intracerebral tumors. Brain MRI in T1 and diffusion tensor modes is performed in a patient with an intracerebral tumor. Simulating the brain white matter tract of interest. On the axial sections, the pathologic MR signal area is determined. Selecting images of axial sections with simulated tract, on which simulated tract has maximum approximation or immersion in area of pathological MR-signal. An area of the tract model (S), a border of the figure formed by the intersection of the tract model and the area of the pathological MR signal (L) are determined. A tract involvement index (TII) is calculated by formula TII=L/S. If TII≤0.12 risk of tract injury in surgical removal of tumor is considered low, while TII 0.34 – high.
EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of preoperative planning by calculating TII.
