FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, oncology and radiation therapy, and can be used for a method for treating recurrence of malignant gliomas of the brain. Spherical balloon for electronic brachytherapy is introduced to the patient after the removal of an intracerebral tumor and the implementation of a full stage hemostasis in the bed of the removed tumor. Single radiotherapy session is conducted with a prescribed dose of 20 Gy to a depth of 0 to 1 cm from the surface of the balloon. After completion of irradiation, which lasts 5–30 minutes, the balloon is removed from the bed.
EFFECT: method provides an increase in the effectiveness of treatment of recurrence of malignant gliomas of the brain due to the combined treatment using a dose of 20 Gy to a depth of 0 to 1 cm from the surface of the spherical balloon for 5–30 minutes.
