FIELD: food industry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed are treatment system (10) and corresponding method (158) for processing workpieces (WP), including food products, for cutting and removing undesirable components from food products and/or separating said products into parts during their movement in conveyor system (12). X-ray scanning station (14) is located in the upper by conveyor section (12) technological flow and is intended for determination of food products size and/or shape parameters, as well as location of any undesirable components of these products, such as bones, fat or cartilages. Further, the food products are transferred to lower conveyor (20), where optical scanner (102) is located, intended for determination of size and/or shape parameters of food products. X-ray and optical scanning results are transmitted to processor (18) to confirm that the food product scanned by the optical scanner is the same product, previously scanned by X-ray scanner. After confirmation of this identity (if necessary) data from X-ray scanner are translated or converted into data from optical scanner. Such translation may include one or more of the following: movement of food products in direction X and/or Y, rotation of food product, food product size changing and food product shear deformation. Further, the location of the undesirable material within the food product is displayed from the X-ray scanning data into the optical scanning data. After that unwanted material is removed by means of cutting device(s) (28). Food product (or alternatively) can be divided into parts by cutting device(s) (28).

EFFECT: proposed cutting/separation into parts using combined X-ray and optical scanning.
