SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hybrid vehicles. In the method of controlling catalyst heating for a hybrid vehicle, when the temperature of the catalyst is lower than the required heating temperature for activating the catalyst, target rotation frequency and engine torque are controlled based on battery charge degree and when target rotation frequency is lower than lower limit rpm, at which the catalyst can be heated to the required heating temperature, electric power generated using the engine is increased until the catalyst temperature exceeds the required warm-up temperature. At that, target rotation frequency is controlled so that it is required for warming up with rotation frequency equal to or higher than lower limit speed.

EFFECT: improving reliability of heating irrespective of battery charge degree.
