FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous metal casting. Proposed crystallizer comprises case (3) with heat pipe arranged therein, condenser (11) communicated via steam lines (8) and condensate lines (18) with heat pipe to form closed evaporation-condensation circuit. Lengthwise ribs (7) are arranged in the space between pipes of the heat pipe along the perimeter. Inner surface of pipe between ribs is coated with porous coating (5). Condenser (11) is located outside the heat pipe housing, and there are two coils (12, 13) made of copper pipes, into which cold water is supplied. Condensate ducts (18) are combined into condensate collector (19) located at an angle α= 10–15° down to horizon. Single condensate line (20) adjoins lower part of condensate header. Hammered grate (9) is arranged in the upper part of heat pipe before inlet of steam pipelines.
EFFECT: higher reliability of cooling of crystallizer wall, exclusion of cracking of crust of formed billet due to uniform temperature distribution along perimeter and height of heat pipe, in contact with spilled melt.
